How HelpMom works
Set it up once. After that, getting help takes one press, and giving help takes a few minutes instead of a drive.
Set up once
Do this the next time you visit. It takes about five minutes.
Put HelpMom on both phones
One phone belongs to the person who gets help, the other to the helper. See how to get HelpMom.
Pair the two phones
The helper's phone shows a nine-digit code and a QR code. Type the code or scan the QR on the other phone. This is done only once.
Try it together
Open practice mode and make a test call across the kitchen table. Next time it will feel familiar.
During a call
One press to ring
Your parent presses the big button. Your iPhone rings like a phone call, also when the app is closed. You can ring them as well.
You see their camera
They point the phone at the thing that is not working. You can switch between front and back camera and turn on the flashlight from your side.
Freeze and draw
Freeze the picture and draw rings and arrows. Add numbered steps, a tick, a cross or a “Press here” stamp. Or just tap to point.
Say it in large text
Send a short message in big letters. The phone can read it aloud, which helps when hearing is the hard part.
Go back in time
If something flashed by, rewind up to 30 seconds and freeze that moment instead.
After the call
A guide is saved
The steps from the call become a picture guide for that appliance. Your parent can open it later and follow along alone.
Notes stay on their phone
Leave short notes for your parent, such as the wifi password, where they can always find them.
Appliances and call log
Keep a list of their appliances with model and a link to the manual, and see when you last helped.
Next time, skip the drive
Set it up once, while you are visiting. After that, help is one button away.
