Privacy policy

HelpMom is built to know as little about you as possible. This page says what is stored, where, and why.

Last updated 6 October 2026.

In short

  • You do not create an account. We have no user database with names, e-mail addresses or passwords.
  • Calls are not recorded. Picture and sound are encrypted between the two phones.
  • Guides, notes, the appliance list and the call log are stored on your phones, not with us.
  • This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising.

Calls

Picture, sound, drawings and text messages in a call travel encrypted between the two paired phones. They do not pass through our server. No relay is used today. If one is switched on later, for networks that do not allow a direct path, it will only forward the encrypted stream without being able to open it, and this page will be updated first.

We do not record or store calls. To let the helper rewind, the app keeps the last 30 seconds of picture in the phone's memory during the call. It is discarded when the call ends.

What our server stores

To make the helper's phone ring, our server stores a notification address for that phone, issued by Apple or by the browser's notification service, together with the public keys of the helper's phone and of the phones allowed to ring it. A public key is a long random-looking number. It does not contain your name or phone number.

The address is replaced when it changes, and one that has stopped working is removed the next time a ring is attempted.

The server also passes on the short technical messages that let two phones find each other. These are not stored.

What stays on your phones

The names you give each other, pairing keys, guides, notes, the appliance list, the call log and your settings are stored in the app on your own phones. Guides and notes are sent from one paired phone to the other during a call. We cannot read them.

Removing the app, or removing a paired phone in the app, removes this information from that phone.

Camera, microphone and notifications

The app asks for the camera and the microphone, which are used only during a call. The helper's app asks to send notifications so that it can ring.

Companies that help us run HelpMom

Cloudflare hosts this website and our server, and helps the two phones find a direct path to each other. Like every web host, it handles IP addresses and basic technical logs in order to deliver the service and keep it safe.

Apple delivers the notifications that make an iPhone ring. If you install through TestFlight, Apple handles crash reports and any feedback you choose to send, under Apple's own terms.

This website

The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. If you write to us by e-mail, we keep your message for as long as it takes to help you.

Children

HelpMom is meant for adults helping other adults. It is not directed at children.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you and ask us to delete it. Since there are no accounts, that is in practice any e-mail you have sent us. The notification address on our server is not linked to your name. Write to the address below.

Changes

If the app starts to handle information in a new way, this page is updated first, with a new date at the top.
